MACAO, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Wang Manyu of Heilongjiang has withdrawn from the table tennis competition at China's 15th National Games, Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau announced on Tuesday.
Wang had defeated Hebei's Sun Yingsha 4-2 to retain her women's singles title on Sunday at Macao's Galaxy Arena. In the women's team quarterfinals on Tuesday, Wang defeated Jiangsu's Kuai Man and Qian Tianyi successively to help Heilongjiang reach the semifinals.
According to the Bureau, Wang suffered neck discomfort during the match against Qian. After receiving treatment from the medical team, Wang decided to continue the match and eventually sealed the victory.
However, Wang's condition worsened afterward. The medical team recommended further examination and treatment in Beijing after assessing her injury.
On Tuesday night, in Wang's absence, Heilongjiang lost to Hebei 3-0 in the women's team semifinals. Heilongjiang will compete against Shanghai for the bronze medal on Wednesday.
