MACAO, June 20 (Xinhua) -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) welcomed 3,372,081 visitors in May 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 25.3 percent, according to data released by the SAR's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) on Friday.
Data showed that the number of same-day visitors surged by 39.2 percent to nearly 2 million, while overnight visitors rose by 9.4 percent to over 1.37 million. The average length of stay for all visitors decreased slightly by 0.1 day to 1.1 days, which the services attributed to a higher proportion of same-day travelers.
In terms of sources of visitors, the DSEC noted that visitor numbers from the Chinese mainland reached 2,439,936, up by 31.4 percent compared to the same period last year. Arrivals from Hong Kong and Taiwan rose by 6.7 percent and 14.3 percent, respectively. International visitor arrivals totaled 232,211, an increase of 25.6 percent year-on-year.
