GENEVA -- China is expected to play the role of a "locomotive" for powering global recovery in the post-pandemic era, a Swiss economist has said.

BEIJING -- China will continue to levy anti-dumping duties on imports of single-mode optical fibers from India for another five years, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Thursday.
The extension will take effect from Aug. 14, the MOC said in a statement, adding that the decision was made following an expiry review launched at the request of the domestic industry in June last year. (China-Economy-Anti-dumping)

BEIJING -- China's central bank Thursday issued 30 billion yuan (about 4.32 billion U.S. dollars) worth of bills in Hong Kong.
Of the total bills, 20 billion yuan will mature in three months and 10 billion yuan will mature a year later, with the interest rate for both standing at 2.7 percent, according to the People's Bank of China (PBOC). (China-Central Bank-Bills)

HONG KONG -- Travelers from the Chinese mainland will be able to transit in Hong Kong International Airport to other destinations from Saturday through Oct. 15, but the transit service for the other way around is still suspended, the Airport Authority Hong Kong said Thursday.
Hong Kong International Airport has resumed transit services since June 1. Passengers are required to have boarding passes under the same ticket if their connecting flights are operated by different airlines. Their luggage must be labeled with a tag to the destination. (Hong Kong-Airport)
